Sitting for long periods of time endangers our health. It can lead to various complaints and illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, deep vein thrombosis, severe back pain and circulatory disorders.
We have a few tips to break the habit of sitting for long periods in the office and help us adopt healthier habits so that we can work more productively, with greater concentration and [Rücken]pain-free.
Tips
General:
- Make sure your posture is straight, even if it tempts you to arch your back (see picture)
At the workplace:
- Change postures, interrupt prolonged, one-sided sitting and stand up more often
- Stop for a coffee break
- Commit to a standing desk and work, talk on the phone or read while standing up
- Conduct meetings standing or walking
- An example would be to get a standing desk and stand up again and again
- Ergonomic office chair
- Do tasks standing up more often
In your free time:
- Set screen-free times
- actively relax, e.g. with a walk
- Do not switch from one sedentary activity to the next
- Doing sport
- Strengthening exercises for the back muscles
