It has been several years since Microsoft offered the option of storing dormant data in Switzerland. Anyone who missed the time window had to bite the bullet and stay with the existing storage location or claim a completely new tenant.
Why Switzerland?
Now that the Swiss Data Protection Ordinance will come into force in 2023, many companies are endeavoring to comply with the upcoming requirements. Microsoft would also like to give Swiss customers another opportunity to start a migration.
When?
Microsoft titled the blog entry “LAST OPPORTUNITY”, which means that we can consider ourselves really lucky that there is once again the possibility of having the data migrated to Switzerland. Customers can apply for migration immediately and have until April 30, 2023 to do so.
